More Than a Church

Mission Statement

Trust the Word of God

Proclaim the Gospel

Build up the Body of Christ

Wait for the Second Coming of the Lord

Formed in 1982, Charlotte Chinese Baptist Church (CCBC) held its early gatherings at Shamrock Drive Baptist Church. As the church grew, many lifted up prayers for a suitable site and witnessed God’s gracious hands at work. In 1994, God sent Hearts and Hammers volunteers, a ministry of Independence Hill Baptist Church. Through their loving help and hard work, the phase I church building was completed in 1994 and phase II in 1997, both miraculously in one week. Continuously guided by God, in 2012, the phase III church building was completed and English Sunday Worship was started.
As a spiritual family, our prayer is to be “like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.” (Psalm 1:3) On Sunday, through prayer meeting, Sunday School, and Sunday Worship, we pursue God’s heart and enjoy His presence; through fellowship lunch and after-lunch activities (choir practice, Chinese School, sports ......), we interact and build up each other.
God is the only answer to the pursuit for eternity or hunger for love. God loves every one of us and longs for us to become His children again. If you have not heard the Good News, if you have questions about it, if you would like to join this calling, if ...... It does not matter what follows the if. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7) Please keep seeking. We sincerely invite you to share the journey of love with us.

Clifford Chin, English Pastor

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17 (NASB)

Clifford was born in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Orlando, Florida as a second generation Chinese American. His mother faithfully took her children to church where he came to know the Lord at the age of 12. Clifford attended the University of Florida and graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering. For the next 21 years, he worked in the engineering field for Duke Energy Company and then as a part of a high-tech growth venture in the building automation and controls industry. In 2000, Clifford received his Master of Theological Studies degree from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. It was at this time in his life that the Lord then called him into a “new” adventure. By faith, he transitioned out of the business world and into the world of academia. Clifford spent the next 20 years at a local Christian school teaching Bible and working with students on projects that connect faith and learning in Christ with taking the Gospel to the world and serving those in need. Clifford joined CCBC as our English Ministry Pastor in July of 2021.

Clifford and his wife Rose have been married for over 40+ years. They are the parents of two adult children: Justin, an attorney living in Atlanta, GA and Tiffany, a pediatrician who is married to Richard and living in Winston Salem, NC. During his “free” time, Clifford enjoys being active and working with his hands… you might find him working on his cars, doing projects around the house or learning a new skill. He and Rose especially enjoy spending time together with their children, fellowshipping and creating new memories.
